It’s spring in the mountains: While there is still snow on the peaks of Mount Sciliar, the nature around the Alpe di Siusi awakes from its hibernation. If you prefer an April holiday without snow, there are various opportunities to enjoy the nature and culture in and around Siusi allo Sciliar. The Sciliar area is particularly suited for families with children, where you may romp and play on a variety of themed hikes. For example, the “Oswald von Wolkenstein Trail”, which you may discover on foot starting from our farm. There you have the opportunity to experience insights into the history of the region in 15 playful ways. Dive into the world of knights, dragons, and the life of the minstrel Oswald von Wolkenstein. In the Laranz Forest near Castelrotto you may discover the educational nature trail “Mushroom Path”: It offers not only enjoy large, wood-carved mushrooms, but you may also make a detour to the “Königswarte”. At the farm Miesnerhof, we cultivate our tradition diligently and with plenty of love, which is why it is essential to us to give our guests an insight into our customs. A highlight event is certainly the Oswald-von-Wolkenstein Ride, which takes place every June in the Sciliar area. Tournament games and riding competitions, parades, and a folkloristic entertainment programme take you into the world of the Middle Ages. The history of the ride is also interesting: It was launched in winter 1983 during a round table meeting at the tavern Turmwirt in Fiè. The aim of the ride is to remind people – locals and guests alike – of the noble knight and at the same time to fill the castles with life. The name comes in honour of the troubadour “Oswald von Wolkenstein”. In June the open-air concert by the local folk band Kastelruther Spatzen takes place in Siusi allo Sciliar, where you can enjoy traditional South Tyrolean folk music. Also in June, the traditional Corpus Christi Procession takes place in Castelrotto, where you may admire colourful costumes and enjoy regional music. On the third Sunday after Pentecost, the Sacred Heart Fire is lit on Mount Sciliar, which dates to the liberation of South Tyrol. If you wish to use your spring holidays to do something good for yourself, a spa vacation is your best choice. Around Siusi allo Sciliar, there are several options to use various wellness & spa offers and to be pampered. Many hotels in the village, the indoor pool Mardolomit in Ortisei in Val Gardena, the Acquarena in Bressanone or in the popular wellness spa in Merano awaits you with many offers – from wellness to sports activities. In the summer months you also have the opportunity to freshen up in the outdoor pool in Telfen or in the local natural pond, the Lake of Fiè.
